VKRP State Reports

The VKRP Phase 2 Executive Summary and Legislative Report describes the results of a study conducted by UVA CASTL to both pilot a kindergarten entry assessment tool that included PALS and to also provide a snapshot of Virginia's entering kindergarten students with regard to readiness skills across a comprehensive range of learning domains and clearly define the school readiness skills gap in Virginia. The phase 2 pilot study using a sample of students who were representative of the Commonwealth indicated that 34% of children arrive at kindergarten unprepared in at least one critical learning domain (literacy, mathematics, self-regulation, and social skills).
